I just found out that 1fzp is still around, contaminating the PDB database. The Nature paper that introduced 1fzn and 1fzp was retracted, and 1fzn was properly removed from PDB by the first author, but 1fzp never was.
The protein has since been solved correctly by another group (2frh) so there is really no reason to keep this junk around.
Since RCSB allows only the original authors to remove a file, could the RCSB staff query the authors (particularly the first author) about the status of 1fzp?
