[edit] Instructions for adding user annotation

  • Click the edit button above to view the page source (right click to show the source in a new tab/window)

  • Enter your comment directly above that line or below an existing comment you want to reply to

[edit] PDB format error?

This structure has a strange technical error in the entity section of the CIF file. Specifically, one water molecule is given the 'type' of 'polymer'! Water molecules should of course be annotated with a 'type' of 'water'! In fact the 1252 other water molecules in this structure are so annotated. Looking closer, we see that the formula weight of the offending molecule is 910.83 Da and not the expected 18.015 Da. This suggests that the molecule is not really water! Other strange things about the entity section makes me think that the entry needs a thorough check.

There is one other entry with such a strange 'water' molecule, 2ac1.
